The Beginning of Something New

On July 16th, 2009, my daughter and I decided to embark on an exciting journey. We opened an Etsy store together!

Let me back up and start a few months back. This summer has been most challenging to say the least. My husband and I had a little boy back in October 2007 and are expecting another baby this October 2009. In May of this year, I was put on very strict bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. I had surgery in early June as my little baby was trying to meet us a bit too early! Needless to say, the bed rest and having a toddler has destroyed all our summer plans. Being almost 13 and ecstatic for the upcoming months, my little girl was devastated to learn that not only will all our trips, traditions and summer fun be taken away but she was given extra responsibility due to my fragile state.

Desperate to find a common ground with her and maintain some sort of "normal" between her and I, we discovered Etsy! Our love of being crafty as well as spending one on one quality time together made us both truly feel like this was the break we needed. Over the past couple weeks, we've laughed more, smiled more and been more excited than we have altogether over the past several months. It's a great bonding experience and we both treasure that this is something that belongs to only her and I.
